Expatriates experiences

Expatriates experiences

To cheer up during these days, here are some expatriates’ stories during and after confinement.
What about you? What is the first thing you will do when you will be allowed to?

Bruno, Croatian expatriate, living in Paris

Dubrovnik, Croatia

“I hope I will be able to fly abroad of France soon, to visit my family and girlfriend.”

The confinement is now over in France. The situation is still difficult in Paris, but Bruno, Croatian Expatriate, is making the best of it!

What are the nationalities in your home?
I am from Croatia and I live alone in the flat in Paris. My girlfriend does not live with me currently. She has a plan to move in Paris, unfortunately our plans will be deferred a bit due to the confinement.

Where do you live usually / during the confinement / now?
I have been living in Paris since the beginning of 2020. I moved from Croatia to France due to a job opportunity. During the confinement and now I stayed in Paris and worked from home.

What is your field of expertise?
My field of expertise is nuclear engineering. I was working in a nuclear power station for 6 years in Croatia. I graduated in electrical engineering.

How was life during confinement? And professionally speaking?
After the initial shock and confusion, I found a daily routine which helped me to organise my time effectively. My company provided me all of the necessary support so I was able to have a regular contact with my team. I went outside for short exercises or grocery occasionally.

What is the first thing you will do when you will be allowed to?
I would like to explore Paris by bike or by foot. I miss the regular face-to-face contact with my friends and working colleagues and I’m looking forward to have it in the near future. And I hope I will be able to fly abroad of France soon, to visit my family and girlfriend.
